“Tell me about His (S.A.W)’s family”

His (S.A.W)’s fathers name was Abdullah. Before the birth of Nabi (S.A.W), Abdullah passed away at Madeenah Tayyibah while returning from a business trip to Syria.

Nabi (S.A.W) comes from the Quraysh tribe.  Quraysh, named after His (S.A.W)’s 11th ancestor, Fahr, also known as Quraysh. Nabi (S.A.W)’s great-grandfather was Haashim, and therefore, Nabi (S.A.W)’s family name is Banoo Haashim.

Nabi (S.A.W)’s grandfather, Abdul Muttalib was the chief of the tribe. He was well-known for his beauty and hospitality. He stayed away from evil, and was looked up to as a leader.

Abdul Muttalib made a vow to Allah. If he had ten sons, he would sacrifice one of them to Allah. Allah accepted his prayer and blessed Abdul Muttalib with 12 sons and 6 daughters. Although it was very difficult, he didn’t want to break his promise to Allah. When lots were drawn, the name of Abdullah, the father of Nabi (S.A.W) came up. Abdullah was the youngest and most beloved son, but Abdul Muttalib didn’t turn away from his duty. As the idea was opposed by all, the problem was put before a wise man. He suggested that a lot should be cast between Abdullah and 10 camels. In case the lot still fell to Abdullah, a further 10 camels should be added and the lot cast again. This should be repeated till the lot fell to the camels. In those days the penalty, for the accidental killing of a person was 10 camels, and the Quraysh liked this solution. A lot was cast between Abdullah and 10 camels but the result was Abdullah. The number was increased by 10 each time until it reached 100. Finally the lot fell to the camels. The people were overjoyed, but Abdul Muttalib was not sure he had fulfilled his duty to Allah. So he drew the lots three more times, and when it fell to the camels continuously, Abdul Muttalib was satisfied. He ordered that 100 camels belonging to him should be slaughtered that same day in front of the Holy Ka’ba and no person or animal should be stopped from eating the meat.

In this way Allah protected Abdullah, who later was to become the father of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

Nabi (S.A.W) had no brother or sister.

Nabi (S.A.W)’s mothers name was Aaminah. She was the daughter of Wahb bin Abde Manaaf bin Zuhrah bin Kilab. From there on, the lineage of Nabi (S.A.W)’s parents becomes one.

Muhammad (S.A.W), is a direct descendent of Ismail (A.S) and Ibraheem (A.S). In the lineage of the Muhammad (S.A.W), from the Prophet Adam (A.S), till the Prophet (S.A.W)’s parents, there were no cases of unlawful sexual intercourse. All the offspring were through marriage and legitimate relationships.

Before Hazrat Abu Sufyaan (R.A) accepted Islam, he was asked by the Caesar of Rome: “How is the Family Lineage of Muhammad (S.A.W)?”

Abu Sufyaan replied: “He is of a Good Lineage.” [Bukhari]

On hearing this, Caesar replied: “Prophets are always sent into noble families.” [Bukhari]

Muhammad (S.A.W) bin Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib bin Haashim bin Abde Manaf bin Qusayy bin Kilab bin Murrah bin Ka’b bin Lu-ayy bin Ghaalib bin Fahr bin Nadhr bin Kinaanah bin Khuzaimah bin Mudrikah bin Ilyas bin Mudhar bin Nizaar bin Ma’ad bin Adnaan

Abdullah Bin Abbas states that when the Prophet (S.A.W) used to talk about his family lineage, he used to stop at Adnaan.

Don’t forget to recite as much Durood as you can!

Love and Duas,

TWS ❤
